Steve Harvey – „Act like a lady, think like a man”, 2009
Another non-fiction book that I read in Indonesia and one that I a bit regret. „Act like a lady, think like a man” is a guide for girls, in which they can find some tips how to get a man and how to keep him. Kind of crap.
I borrowed this book from Gede’s Homestay in Antura, because it was the only English one I could find there and I wanted to give it a shot. Oh, Marysia, you and your fast decisions. At first I quite liked it, it was a bit funny, I even thought that it may be useful. It wasn’t at all.
Steve Harvey is a stand-up comedian, an actor, and he also has his own radio show. So, as I expected, there were a loooot of jokes in the book, some of them even funny. But dear Mr. Harvey, you maybe know how men brains work, but for sure you don’t know much about ladies.
When I was reading „Act like a lady, think like a man” I thought this book is full of stupid excuses for men behaving like ,and those poor women, who actually read and believe in those kind of guides, will think it is all truth. I especially liked the part called „Why do men cheat”, where the author explains that they do it because they can or because they hope not to get caught. And there is nothing to do about it, this is just how men are. Yeah, thank you Steve Harvey for saying that boys are bad and eh, what to do. Accept it.
It was a bit a waste of time, but at least it was not so long. I enjoyed only the way of writing, which sounded like tips from a big, bold, African man having fun (Steve Harvey is big, bold and black, coincidence? I don’t think soo!).
Don’t even bother girls. There are better books in the Universe.
