The West of Bali of probably the most quiet part of the island. Arriving in Gilimanuk, travelling via the south coast on the way to Negara, brings you through some nice and quiet villages. One of those villages is called Sumber Sari, located just before Melaya. Here you have guesthouses for as cheap as 50.000 RP per night, but if you go a bit further there is an area with a couple of villa’s in a row.
A beautiful place to stay in Sumber Sari is the Bali Eco Beach House, which is located right in front of the sea with a very quiet beach. If you take a walk to the right from the beach, you will be in the National Park in a few hundred meters, where you can see monkeys playing on the beach. If you go to the north, land inwards, you can climb a small mountain with a beautiful view over whole the west part of Bali and a bit of the Javanese coast. Also for snorkelling this is a very good place. Just a few hundred meters to the right side in the sea there are beautiful fishes and corals. A last plus punt is the beautiful sunset that can be seen from the beach, with the mountains of Java on the background.
The traditional market of Gilimanuk is about 15 minutes by motor bike from Sumber Sari. This is a very nice place to experience the local life of Bali, starting early morning at dawn, where all the delicious vegetables and fruits are sold. Also you can enjoy a good cheap breakfast here.
